Invasion Description

1st Introduced Record: Charleston/SC/Charleston Harbor (1814, DeKay 1844, cited by Carlton 2011, a 'car' (live box) of oysters released, a few found 10 years later)

At least one local introduction was made in Charleston, South Carolina, and other seafood releases can be expected. Other records, near Cape Hatteras, probably result from larvae carried around the cape by currents (Williams and Williams 1981)
