The bryozoan Membraniporella cf. Aragoi, reported from the Northwest Pacific (northern Sea of Japan, Sea of Okhotsk) may be conspecific, but have not been reported to have the I- and S-type zooids found in C. mutabilis (Androsova 1971; Kubanin 1975, both cited by Ito et al. 2015).
