Invasion

Invasion Description

1st Record: HMAS 'Anzac', moored at Garden Island/Western Australia/Indian Ocean (4/2011, McDonald 2012, a single mussel)

There is no evidence of establishment of P, viridis, although hundreds of fouled vessels have probably visited northern Australia up to 2019. Bayesian analysis suggests that P. viridis cannot be considered a high-risk invader (Heersink et al. 2019).

Geographic Extent

HMAS 'Anzac', moored at Garden Island/Western Australia/Indian Ocean (4/2011, McDonald 2012, a single mussel on hull); HMAS 'Arunta', moored at Garden Island/Western Australia/Indian Ocean (2011, McDonald 2012; Piola and McDonad 2012, ~200 mussels in sea chest and on hull, no other Perna found in Scuba survey of harbor)
