Invasion Description

1st record: Loring/AK/Behm Canal (Inside Passage) (1903, USNM 5633. U.S. National Museum of Natural History 2003; Lambert 2003); Stuart Island/British Columbia/Queen Charlotte Strait (1937, Lambert 2003).; Refuge Cove marina, Ketchikan/AK/Inside Passage (1 specimen on fouling plates, Jurgens et al. 2018).

The Alaska and British Columbia records are museum specimens which have been identified as C. savignyi. These records may represent a cryptogenic northern population. However, specimens collected from marinas in Puget Sound appear to be recent invaders (Lambert 2003). A third specimen was collected on fouling plates in Ketchikan in 2016 (Jurgens et al. 2018).
