Halophiloscia couchii is a semi-terrestrial isopod which occurs in upper-intertidal habitats on rocky shores, saltmarshes, and under logs on sandy beaches. It is native to Europe from the British Isles to the Mediterranean and North Africa. Introduced populations are known from Bermuda, Argentina, Western Australia, and Midway Island. In 1945, specimens were reported from Portsmouth, Virginia on the Chesapeake Bay, but the establishment status of this isopod is currently unknown. No ecological or economic impacts are known for this species.
