Clytia noliformis has a hydroid stage which frequently grows on fixed and drifting macroalgae, as well as on hydroids, octocorals, and artificial substrrates, and also has a planktonic medusa (Calder 1988; Kirkendale and Calder 2003; Linder and Migoot 2006; Oliveira and Marques 2006;)
