Eukerria saltensis is a semi-terrestrial earthworm native to South America and now widely distributed in the world including Australia, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Europe (Italy and Portugal) (Blakemore et al. 2006). In North America, it is known from the southeast US, where it was collected at 10 locations in 1968 (Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, US National Museum of Natural History 2008), California, and the Columbia River estuary and basin (Sytsma et al. 2005; Draheim et al. 2007). Eukerria saltensis is widely associated with rice culture (Blakemore et al. 2006). It has been found in the San Francisco Bay watershed, in Los Gatos Creek, San Jose (Reynolds 1999). It has been collected in the Sacramento River at Liberty Island and in the Old River, a channel of the San Joaquin Delta (CANOD database 2014).
