Invasion Description

1st Record:CA/Bolinas Lagoon (1993, introduced, established, Grosholz and Ruiz 1995)

Removal experiments were conducted in Seadrift Lagoon, a small lagoon connected to Bolinas Lagoon by culvert. Intensive trapping in 2009 reduced the population to about 8,000 adult crabs. However, after the removal efforts, their was a massive population growth of Green Crabs, to about 300,000, mostly small animals, probably resulting from the reduction of cannibalism by adult crabs (Fimrite 2017).
