1st Record: Mexico/Laguna Salada (Gulf of California) (Van Syoc 1992)
Mexico/Laguna Salada (Gulf of California). This population was considered to be native, based on the presence of nearby Miocene-Pliocene fossil deposits (Van Syoc 1992). However, the fossil populations are a distinct species, B. canabus. One possible vector is shrimp aquaculture in the area (Carlton et al. 2010).
