Farallon Islands/CA/Pacific Ocean (1886, 1 specimen, Wolff 1977); CA/San Francisco Bay (1917, 1 specimen, Cohen and Carlton 1995); CA/San Francisco Bay (1995, 2 specimens, Cohen and Carlton 1995); CA/San Francisco Bay ('at one time', MacGinitie and MacGinitie 1968, transferred with oyster spat, 'Many specimens grew to a large size, but they never reproduced of became established, perhaps because the water is colder than on the East Coast.'
