Invasion Description

1st Established Record: Espevik/Norway/Boknafjorden (2007, Wrange et al. 2010, 94 oysters collected in survey, 4 size classes); 1st Record: Norway/Atlantic Ocean (Introduced in 1979, using seed from UK, after 1985, seed came from Norwegian hatcheries. Widely reared, little spawning) (Hopkins 2002).

Geographic Extent

Norway/Atlantic Ocean (Widely reared, little spawning) (Hopkins 2002); north to Rogaland/Norway/Norwegian Sea (Laugen et al. 2015); BastaVoe, Unst, Shetland Islands/Scotland/Nowegian Sea (2/2016, 2 Shelmerdine et al. 2017, naturally settled speciemens, on mussel lines, in areas of extensive non-reproducing aquaculture, 60º45?18?N; 000º51?26?W).
