Invasion Description

1st Record: between George Island Landing and Girdlletree landing, Worcester County/MD/Chincoteague Bay (1955, Sieling 1960);

[However, old shells, perhaps 80-100 years old were found in excavations in the now-closed Green Run Inlet, shincoteague Bay, Suggesting an early introduction, probably before 1883, when the inlet became unnavigable (Sieling 1960).
