Invasion Description

1st Established Record: Redwood City/CA/South San Francisco Bay (2002, 37130.250 N, 1221 12.860 W, Miller et al. 2005, eradicated); Bay Farm Island/CA/San Francisco Bay (2008, Miller et al. 2011, removed)

1st Record: Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco/CA/San Francisco Bay (1966, Miller 1969). Restaurant shippers routinely dumped the seaweed, used to pack lobsters, into San Francisco Bay (Miller 1969).

The form of A. nodosum was ecad mackayi, a growth form which grows entwined around salt-marsh vegetation. It was probably introduced with seaweed used to wrap bait-worms imported from new England or Atlantic Canada (Miller et al. 2005)
