Invasion Description

1st Record: Richmond to San Leandro, Redwood Creek to Pier 39/CA/Central San Francisco Bay (1993, Cohen and Carlton 1995). Ascidia sp. A was common to abundant in 1993 in San Francisco Bay (Cohen and Carlton 1995), but was not listed by Cohen et al. (2005). It was not found in samples from California harbors in 2012. 'It may no longer be present' (Gretchen Lambert 2012, personal communication)'. Further sampling will be needed to confirm whether Ascidia sp. A is extinct in West Coast waters.
