1st Record: CA/San Francisco Bay (1973, Cohen and Carlton 1995)

In San Francisco Bay, the abundance and dominance of B. violaceus varies with internnual cycles of precipitation and riverflow in the watershed. Botryllus violaceus at Richmond Marina, in the central Bay, is dominant during wet periods ( 22-28PSU), and less abundant and dominant during dry periods ( 28-33 PSU) (Chang et al. 2017).
