Invasion Description

1st Record: CA/Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta (1963, Cohen and Carlton 1995; Dill and Cordone 1997; Moyle and Randall 1999); CA/Suisun Marsh (Matern and Moyle 2003).

The date of introduction to the watershed is uncertain, owing to confusion between Green Sunfish and Bluegill (L. macrochirus (Dill and Cordone 1997). Green Sunfish were present in local watersheds by 1940 (Leidy 2007).
