Ecology

General:

Vieja maculicauda (Black-Belt Cichlid) is a predominantly freshwater cichlid fish, native to Caribbean streams and rivers, but is common in brackish estuaries (Robertson and van Tassel 2015; Froese and Pauly 2017). It was common in the Miraflores Third Lock Lake (6-14 PSU) (McCosker and Dawson 1975).
